Knoxville, TN – Covenant Health has selected VortexT Analytics™ as the vendor of choice to build a Quality Metrics platform around clinical data. Using advanced data science tools, the platform will not only report on measures linked to retrospective data (e.g. readmissions), but also perform predictive analytics (e.g. to predict which patients are likely to readmit). The platform will combine data from disparate sources, including both structured and unstructured data (e.g. transcripts), to produce reports and real-time alerts that Covenant Health executives and providers will use to make informed clinical decisions, reduce patient care costs, and satisfy compliance requirements.
The VortexT® platform will be used for Medicare part A and B reporting on complications, mortality, and episode-based measures. It will also be used for hybrid reporting to calculate risk-adjusted rates, condition-specific excess-days-in-acute-care (EDAC) measures, and payment, complication, readmission, and mortality measures. In addition, the VortexT® platform will provide real-time alerts to providers regarding likelihood of readmission, patients with high risk of infection, and high utilizers.
Healthcare companies are increasingly looking for analytics partners as the industry shifts from fee for service models to value-based care. “As reimbursements have become much more tied to quality outcomes, Covenant Health has looked for a partner that could provide clean data and access to high quality analytics, and VortexT Analytics™ has proven very successful for us,” said Covenant Health Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer John Geppi.
A recent poll of hospital executives showed over 80% of respondents considered data analytics very or extremely important, with the majority of respondents specifically looking for ways to improve quality and use their clinical data.
VortexT Analytics™ has been working with Covenant Health since its inception in 2016, developing tools for improving revenue cycle and working denials. “The Quality Metrics platform was a natural progression for Covenant Health to build on the successes of the RevInsights™ and RevRecover™ analytics tools that VortexT Analytics™ has developed,” said Sherri Ernst, Director of Revenue Integrity for Covenant Health. “Developing quality and meaningful software is key to our success. Our continued partnership with Covenant Health to enhance our SaaS platform and add to our product portfolio will be a competitive differentiator in an involving analytic space,” said VortexT Analytics’ President, Dick Hull.
